Oct. 2008 – Share Purchases Former Timber Lanes, Plans Remodel for New Office Space
Share has purchased the former Timber Lanes bowling alley on Andresen Road for $2.09 million and plans to remodel the building into warehouse storage for the Backpack and Holiday Cheer Programs, transitional housing staff offices, Volunteer Center and offices for administration that will then free up space for clients at Share House. The renovation has an expected cost of $2 million.
Share hopes to have staff move into the new space in 2009, but the move will be dependent on raising the necessary funds. Renovation plans for the 22,000-square-foot building include 55 offices, as well as meeting space, two large classrooms with a computer lab and warehouse storage for our backpack program and holiday cheer program. The project will be completed with local businesses DSP Architecture and RSV Construction.
As part of a transitional phase, Share has placed two modular buildings on the north side of 13th Street (across from Share House). The modular buildings will accommodate current Share Outreach clients who must wait outside for lack of space and will also provide a place for those on our streets – currently residing in parks, the library and the downtown business area – for lack of anywhere else to be.
Share Public Outreach Process
Facility Improvement Plan
In June 2007, Share hosted a series of public meetings to discuss the future of Share and how our organization can best serve the homeless and low-income individuals and families in Clark County. Below is a recap of that public outreach process, including links to presentation materials.

The first open house, held June 27, informed participants about who we are, how we serve individuals and families, what the community needs are and why Share is so important to this community. The second open house, held July 24, featured small group workshops to identify issues, challenges, concerns, options and opportunities, including how will Share meet needs and where?
The third meeting, held Oct. 9, provided a report on our progress thus far, including feedback gathered at presentations to various local agencies, including the Arnada, Carter Park, Esther Short and Hough Neighborhood Associations, as well as the Vancouver Downtown Association, City Center Redevelopment Authority, Uptown Business Association and meetings with representatives from the City of Vancouver, Identity Clark County and Greater Vancouver Chamber of Commerce.
