2007 Financial Report
Share is pleased to present our 2007 financial report, allowing us an opportunity to reflect on Share’s accomplishments, which were made possible with the support of our board, staff, volunteers, clients and community supporters. Each year, Share positively impacts the lives of thousands of individuals and families in our community, resulting in a better place for us all to live, work and look towards the future.
We want to mention some of the highlights from 2007:
• Share provided shelter for 2,375 individuals, including 595 children.
• 1,835 individuals accessed Share Outreach services. As demand for Share’s Outreach Program continues to exceed its capacity to adequately serve all those in need, in June 2007, Share began a public outreach process – a series of three public, open house meetings – to share our Facility Improvement Plan and seek feedback from the community about how best our organization should grow to meet the on-going needs of the hungry, homeless and low-income in our community; detailed information on this process can be viewed at www.sharevancouver.org.
• Over 8,000 volunteers gave their time in support of Share programs – in all, Share volunteers gave 45,355 hours to our programs.
• The Share ASPIRE program now serves an average of 150 households each month and has maintained an 80% success rate in moving individuals and families into permanent housing; in 2007, 48 households successfully graduated from the program.
• Share’s annual fundraising events – including the Mardi Gras Gala & Casino Night, Share-a-Bowl Soup Dinner, Hoops on the River Basketball Tournament and Papa Murphy’s Golf Classic – raised $342,500 in support of Share’s programs and services.
• More than 150 children were served through the Summer Meals Program and 250 children, and their families, were served through the Backpack Program.
• The 2007 Holiday Cheer Program assisted 2,413 individuals and 418 families through our adopt-a-family program; a total of 11,383 gifts were handed out to clients in shelter and in the ASPIRE program, as well as individuals who attended our annual Holiday Party.
