2008 Financial Report

2008 Financial Report
Share is pleased to present our 2008 financial report, allowing us an opportunity to reflect on Share’s accomplishments, which were made possible with the support of our board, staff, volunteers, clients and community supporters. Each year, Share positively impacts the lives of thousands of individuals and families in our community, resulting in a better place for us all to live, work and look towards the future.

We want to mention some of the highlights from 2008:

2008 Annual Report
2008 Income & Expenses
2008 Share 990

• Share provided shelter for 1,345 individuals, including 366 children.
• 1,667 individuals accessed Share Outreach services.
• More than 1,700 volunteers gave their time in support of Share programs—in all, Share volunteers gave 54,147 hours to our programs. We are fond of saying that our volunteers are priceless. But, we have found a way to calculate their value. The Independent Sector (a non-profit group) has calculated that the value of a volunteer hour in Washington State is $19.53. With that figure, we can share that our volunteers provided $1,057,500 of service to our organization in 2008—and we can’t thank them enough!
• Share ASPIRE served an average of 120 households each month and maintained a 70% success rate in moving individuals and families into permanent housing; in 2008, 48 households successfully graduated from the program.
• Share’s annual fundraising events—Mardi Gras Gala, Share-a-Bowl Soup Dinner, Hoops on the River Basketball Tournament and Papa Murphy’s Golf Classic—raised $465,625 in support of Share’s programs and services.
• More than 300 children were served through the Summer Meals Program and 420 children, and their families, were served through the Backpack Program; both programs served twice as many children as were served in 2007—and community demand to expand the programs increases each month.
• The 2008 Holiday Cheer Program served 2,188 people, handed out 12,556 gifts and helped 451 families through our Adopt-a-Family Program.

We look forward to continued success in 2009 and thank you for your support of Share and dedication to investing in a brighter future for our community.
