Share hosts three major fundraising events each year. In 2009, our annual events raised a gross total of $385,279 in support of Share’s programs.
Share’s Black & White Gala:
Share’s Black & White Gala is a fundraising event to support our programs and services. The event features dinner, casino-style gambling and both silent and live auctions. Black and white attire is preferred.
Share-a-Bowl Soup Dinner:
Share-a-Bowl was envisioned to give our donors a sense of the experience our Hot Meal Program clients have each day at Share House. More than 400 donors and their families join us for a soup dinner, featuring soup prepared by local restaurants and the People’s Choice Award for Best Soup, as chosen by the event’s attendees. The event also includes the presentation of the Emily Marshall Volunteer of the Year Award.
Hoops on the River:
Hoops on the River is a 3-on-3 basketball tournament held in downtown Vancouver, along the bank of the Columbia River. The event is held annually on the third weekend of August; the 2012 event will be held August 17 to 19. This past year marked our sixth annual Hoops event, which drew in our largest numbers to date – 231 teams, 900+ players, more than 8,000 spectators. . The tournament promises to become one of the largest in the Northwest.
Fire in the Park:
Sponsored by Vancouver Firefighters Union and a benefit for Share, Fire in the Park includes a firefighter combat challenge, chili cook off, live music, NW regional fire pipe & drum bands, food & beer garden, plus a children’s event area. The event is held in Esther Short Park and is free to attend and open to the public.
Adopt-a-Holiday
Special times of the year can be the hardest times for those in need. You can brighten those days by sponsoring a holiday celebration or event: a Valentine’s Day or Halloween party, a celebration of Christmas, Easter, Hanukkah, or Kwanza… use your imagination and think of the joy you might bring.
