Thank you to the 360 guests, as well as all of our event sponsors, who helped to raise $30,000 for Share’s Hunger Initiative at our 2012 Share-a-Bowl.
 
Congratulations to Jillian Provience, our 2012 Volunteer of the Year Award winner, as well as nominees First United Methodist Church, Steve & Vicki Heil and Hailee Hillard.
 
And, congrats to Executive Chef Troy Lucio from Gray’s at the Park, who – for the second year in a row – was awarded the ‘People’s Choice Award’ for best soup.
 
 
 
Highlights from 2012 Share-a-Bowl

 
 
The 2012 chefs and soups included: Cannelini Bean with Spicy Sausage Tramezzino by Troy Lucio of Gray’s at the Park ; Grandmother’s Gumbo by Muffin Batiste of Le Sous Chef ;and Carrot Ginger by Mark Wornson of Tommy O’s.
 
 
 

 
 
 
 
 
 
Plus, each guest took home an artisan soup bowl as a keepsake, designed by local artists Anna Carpentieri/Nao Tajiri, Stephen Mickey, Dara Hartman and Robin Hominiuk. Also available are bowls by Michael Metz.
 
Dinner included soup, salad, bread, beverages and delicious pies – berry, strawberry-rhubarb and apple – made by the Southridge Community of Christ Pie Ladies.
 

 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
The dinner program included: presentation of the Emily Marshall Volunteer of the Year Awards, a speaker on the Children’s Hunger Initiative, followed by dessert, plus raffle and door prize drawings.
 
The Marshall Award honors long-time Share volunteer, Emily Marshall, who passed away in August 2007. In honor of her legacy, Share will annually recognize an individual who has displayed outstanding efforts to foster Share’s mission of serving the hungry and homeless in Clark County.
 
The 2011 award was presented to Joan Caley. Four additional people were also recognized: Vicki Erickson, Carla Feltz, Susan O’Shea, as well as David Slocum and Judy Enders.
