Throughout the year, local organizations and businesses host community events and donation drives to benefit Share. Here is a list of upcoming events (all events details listed below):

First Independent Annual Food Drive
First Independent branches are collecting non-perishable food items from Feb. 1 to 17 to support Share’s Backpack Program. Food donations this year include boxed macaroni and cheese, canned tuna fish, canned fruit, canned soup and oatmeal. Food items may be dropped off at any First Independent branch (click link for locations) through Feb. 17.
 
 

Beaches Restaurant ‘Cashback for Backpacks’ on Leap Day (Feb. 29)
On Wed., Feb. 29, Beaches Restaurant will donate 50% of what each Guest spends on food & beverage back to Share’s Backpack Program. You must be sure to tell your server that you are there for ‘Cashback for Backpacks’ to ensure that 50% of your bill is donated back to Share. Guests are encouraged to make a reservation for breakfast, lunch or dinner. And the offer is good at both the Vancouver and Portland Airport (PDX) locations. Make Your Reservation Today! State Farm Agents Document Shredding Fundraiser
Local State Farm agents have organized a document shredding fundraiser to support Share. The fundraiser begins Jan. 20, 9 a.m. to 12 noon, at 15 SW 20th Ave., Ste. 102, Battle Ground. The fundraiser continues through April 20; multiple agents and shredding locations will be held, per the schedule below.

Here’s how the fundraiser works: for a suggested donation of $10 per standard 15×12x10” box, community members can help safeguard their personal documents by bringing documents (old tax returns, business records, bank statements, cancelled checks, credit card statements, bill, receipts and other documents containing personal information) to be shredded. All donations will benefit Share.
 
 
WA School Nutrition Association Chapter 17 Fundraising Dinner
You’re invited to a St. Patrick’s Day Dinner, March 9, 6 to 9 p.m. at Harney Elementary School, 212 E. Evergreen Blvd. Cost: Adults $6.00 & Children $3.00. Proceeds benefit Share’s Backpack Program – and Beaches Restaurant has generously agreed to match funds up to $1,500!
 
Menu includes: Irish Potato with the Works, Fruit, Salad, Bread Sticks, Beverage & Dessert. There will be raffles, silent auction and great door prizes too! Entertainment provided by Marlene Schell School of Dance and our Irish Theme will include Brad Walker from Kell’s Irish Pub in Portland who will delight us with music from Bagpipes!
 
 
Sacred Heart Church Spaghetti Feed
Enjoy an all-you-can-eat Spaghetti Feed at Sacred Heart Church in Battle Ground on March 10. Doors open at 6 p.m.; dinner at 6:30 p.m. Raffle tickets will be sold (entry is by donation) and all proceeds will be used toward Easter Baskets for Share clients.
 
 
Clark County Basketball: March Madness 3-on-3 Tournament
  – Date: March 10-11, 2012 • Location: Battle Ground High School
  – Ages: 3rd grade to adult (male and female)
  – Cost: $120 per team (4 players per team)
  – Includes: 3 game guarantee, T-shirt, team packet, court monitors
  – Proceeds from the tournament will benefit Share.

T-Wolf Choir Benefit Concerts: March 8, 9, 10 (Thurs – Sat)
7 to 8:30 p.m. at Heritage High School, 7825 NE 130th Ave.
Proceeds from the concerts will benefit Share. More event details to come.
